Clinical Study on Pathogenesis of Convulsive Disorder


Abstract
The author studied 85 cases out of 98 epileptic inpatients who had been treated at the Department of Neurology, Seoul National University Hospital, from 1973 to 1976 on pathogenesis in relation to their clinical condition:
The results were as follows.
1. Male was three times more predominant.
2. On set of the convulsion was the most frequent in 10th decade and patients in 20th decade were admitted more than any other decade.
8. Younger age had many generalized seizure but more etiological findings were notiod in older ages.
4. The 19 cases (22.3%) were found the etiology of convulsion and most common cause was brain tumor (5 cases).
5. Most patients stayed hospital within 20 days.
6. EEC was the most valuable technique for convulsive disorder and had abnormal findings of 69.3%.
The author think that better economic support and development of the technique are needed to find more accurate etiology in the future.
